Nepal 1 800 Contacts Expedition
January 25 - February 1, 2020
Nestled between China and India in southern Asia, Nepal boasts the greatest altitude variation on earth. From sea-level lowlands to towering Himalayan peaks, this charming nation attracts world travelers with its majestic landscapes, vibrant traditions, and warm embraces of spirited Nepalese natives.
> Project & Community Details
This community comprises people from various ethnic communities living harmoniously together. In the 6 years we have worked with them, we saw that they are a very hardworking community. They have been an example and inspiration to the many other villagers in the field of agriculture especially in vegetable production.
We will be working on painting as well as project work on the reservoir/water tanks, fencing, cleaning and preparation for the water system inauguration program. There will also be an eye clinic for about 100 students and locals as well as a Days for Girls workshop.

Joe came to know Choice Humanitarian through his employment at US Synthetic, which was just going to be a job to help him get through school at Brigham Young University on his way to a BA in English with an Anthropology minor. But, English and Anthropology weren’t going to pay the bills, and with US Synthetic’s vision of improving lives, which Joe fully embraces, he has found ways to use his degree and feed the family. He (finally) went on his first Choice expedition to Nepal in 2015. Since then he has lead expeditions in Peru and Kenya. He loves to serve and work with people, especially youth. Besides Choice, he works with Junior Achievement, The United Way, Days For Girls, Latinos in Action, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; he also coaches his son’s little league soccer team(s). Joe and his wife Shanna have 3 children, 2 boys and a baby girl.
Debra’s first humanitarian experiences were with Habitat for Humanity, Rising Star, and SHe. Once introduced to CHOICE, she was hooked. Debra has joined expeditions to Nepal and Kenya. She enjoys working with agencies that help people live happier and healthier lives. Debra has a degree in public health and has worked as a health educator in schools and communities for the past 20 years. She currently lives in San Jose, California and enjoys traveling, visiting museums and being a tourist in her own home town. Plus she eats samosas whenever she can.
