Nepal Earthquake Update 4/28

The following is an update directly from Kiran, our senior staff member on the ground in Lamjung area:

“I feel very happy and blessed to be able to say that we are safe even in this tragic moment. I am in Besishahar today. This is the first day I got access to the internet after the earthquake.

I sat in a meeting with chief district officer, local development officer and political party leaders today. Here is the preliminary information of the situation. Red Cross and various organizations including CHOICE are visiting the communities to find out the reality.”

  • About 3,245 housesare completely damaged(Lamjung has 42,000 households)
  • About 10,000 housesare partially damaged(Its assumed that those can be repaired and used again)
  • 40 Schoolsare completely damaged

CHOICE is focusing our support to the following areas: Dhulikhel, Bandepa, Karapu, Nalma, Gaunshahar, Bhulbhule, Okhalepani, and 20 VDCs

CHOICE transferred funds today to help with providing urgent resources. We will begin repairing homes next.
